PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Challenges

For the given ship accelerations and weather conditions, the structural strength of two STS cranes, including static strength and buckling, as well as their lashing to the ship deck during sea voyage, was analyzed.

The assessment also determined the cranes’ lashing plan, the minimum required profile of the lashing elements, and the necessity of structural reinforcement to withstand the loads during sea transportation.

STRUCTURAL VERIFICATION

STS Cranes Structural Assessment

Structural analysis was performed for two STS cranes and their lashing to the ship deck under the specified ship accelerations and weather conditions during sea voyage. The assessment included static strength and buckling analysis of the crane structures

Verification of the static strength of the two STS crane structures and their lashing to the ship deck.

Buckling analysis of the STS crane structures under transportation loads.

Determination of the cranes’ lashing plan and minimum required profile of the lashing elements.

PROJECT OUTCOME

Sea Transportation Engineering Assessment

The analysis defined the lashing plan and the minimum required profile of the lashing elements for the two STS cranes. The necessity of crane structure reinforcement was also assessed based on the loads resulting from the specified ship accelerations and weather conditions during sea voyage.
