PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Challenges

Plastic deformations were detected in the boom structure while the crane was still under warranty. The manufacturer stated that the damage was caused by the maintenance staff. Strain gauge measurements and structural analysis were performed to determine the actual cause of the deformation. The investigation showed that the problem was caused by unequal distribution of the boom forestay forces
